Despite multiple requests from several clubs for detailed analysis and documentation, the governing body’s failure to provide clear answers has bred suspicion and is now threatening to sink the entire proposal to create a 14-team competition.
The most deafening silence concerns the financial model. Clubs want to know how the league can sustain two extra teams when its main broadcaster, Sky Sports, will not provide additional funding. The RFL has reportedly failed to answer this fundamental question with a detailed business plan, leaving clubs to assume the worst: that their own central funding will be cut to accommodate the new arrivals.
