Instagram is finally rolling out a feature for its power users and avid multitaskers. A new Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode for Reels is now in a testing phase, designed to allow seamless integration of video content into a busy digital workflow.
This advanced functionality enables a Reel to play in a persistent, movable window that remains on-screen while you navigate through other applications. Whether you’re managing your calendar, collaborating in a work app, or researching information in a browser, your video content can now run concurrently. This is a significant step up from the app’s current single-focus interface.
The benefits extend beyond productivity. For content creators, this means their tutorials, explainers, and longer-form content can be consumed by an audience that is actively engaged in related tasks. The feature is currently being evaluated with a select user group and will include an opt-out for those who prefer a more traditional viewing experience.
This push towards a more powerful user experience is also evident in the release of a dedicated Instagram app for the iPad. The new app is designed for the larger screen, providing a more robust and efficient interface for managing and consuming content.
