In four days, Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s trailer accomplished what no film trailer has ever done — it crossed one billion views. Released on March 17 by Sony Pictures, the promotional clip made history on a scale that the entertainment industry had never contemplated. WaveMetrix confirmed the milestone, reporting 1.1 billion total views by the following Tuesday.

The first 24-hour viewership of 718.6 million was already historic before the billion mark was in sight. It overwhelmed the Deadpool & Wolverine Super Bowl record of 365 million, Spider-Man: No Way Home’s 355.5 million, and Grand Theft Auto VI’s 475 million in a way that left little room for comparison. Brand New Day’s opening-day figure was nearly twice the previous record.

This cumulative billion-view result is a media milestone as significant as any box office achievement. The trailer’s performance illustrates the depth of the global appetite for this version of Spider-Man and Tom Holland’s interpretation of the character. Nothing in the history of entertainment promotion has come close.

Brand New Day is scheduled to open on July 31 and is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. The cast includes Tom Holland, Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo, Tramell Tillman, and Michael Mando. The film is the fourth MCU Spider-Man installment and will be released in India in six languages.

The trailer’s emotional contents — a forgotten Peter Parker struggling for purpose and connection — captured fans’ hearts immediately. Viral reactions and heartfelt alternative titles spread across social media within hours. With one billion views already behind it, Brand New Day is all but certain to become one of the most culturally significant films of the year.
