Russia’s Ambassador to India, Denis Alipov, has reaffirmed the “uninterrupted” 60-year defense partnership, describing it as the “backbone of India’s armed forces.” This strong statement comes as speculation rises over the India-Russia oil trade following claims by Donald Trump.
Alipov, speaking in Delhi, emphasized that this cooperation is now defined by “joint production and full technology-sharing,” a model that has supplied approximately 70% of India’s military equipment.
He cited the success of “Operation Sindoor” as proof of the effectiveness of this hardware and the shared “battlefield experience” that Russia “willingly shares” with its Indian partners.
The ambassador announced a major new defense push, building on existing JVs like the BrahMos missile and Su-30 MKI jets. The new proposals include local production of the Su-57 fighter, drones, and advanced radar.
This defense overture serves as a powerful reminder of Russia’s deep strategic importance to India, especially as the US, which has imposed tariffs, attempts to pressure New Delhi on its energy imports from Moscow.
